8. Away

They say Mommy’s gone away
Matter-of-factly
Someone so happy
Who love us so,
Brother and I.
“Why did she go?” he asks Daddy.
He turns, not talking.
Brother asks again.
Daddy roars to be quiet.
Daddy never yells at Brother.
Brother always good-boy.
She just away?
“How long away?” I ask.
Daddy no talk now.
Daddy say for quiet.
Daddy want to take bath.
We follow what he say.
We stay quiet.
“Why Mommy go?” I say to Brother.
“I don’t know.” Say my friend.
Why Mommy go?
Mommy-napped?
That’s it;
Mommy-napped
We should find her.
But why Daddy take bath
When we have to find Mommy?
I be bad boy.
I go to door, and knock.
“Daddy! Daddyyyyyy!”
He don’t talk.
Door locked.
Smart Brother say “Let’s find mommy!”
“Okay!” I agree.
We get our coats.
It not scary in the dark.
With Older Brother with me.
We go to door,
When Mommy’s Mommy comes in.
“Where are you going?”
“We’re going!” Brother says.
“Away, Like Mommy, to find her!” I say happily.
Mommy’s Mommy’s face gets funny.
“Where is your father?” She says.
“Dad’s taking a bath.” Brother says.
“We find Mommy for him!”
I’m smart like Brother.
She go to bathroom.
She scream.
She come down, face funny again
“Why your face funny?” I say.
“Nevermind now,
We have to go away for awhile.”
We both gasp, happy.
“Away? So we find Mommy?”
“Yes, away like Mommy.”
She takes our hands.
We go to her car.
She helps us in our seats.
I sing;
Mommy go away,
We don’t know
We go away,
We find Mommy-
Brother joins in
We’ll find Mommy,
Bring her back to stay
Mommy love us so much,
She’ll never go away
Mommy’s Mommy making a funny sound again.
Big Brother say “You okay?”
She drive fast, more than Daddy do.
She say “I’m okay.”
She sound like she has runny nose.
She need tissue.
Car ride nice.
Make me sleepy.
I nap,
We find Mommy soon.

Right?

This really started out with the first line. It...kinda ran away from that point on.
